A contract that's been working fine tells you nothing about what it's missing or what needs updating. You find out on the day you need it to do something it doesn't, and by then you can’t change it on your own.

So let's look now, while you still can. Pull up the agreement you actually send to clients and use this checklist to walk through it one item at a time.

You'll see which of the ten are there and which aren't. Then comes the harder question: does what's there say anything useful? A termination clause that needs 90 days' notice and one that lets either side leave on 10 days' notice are both termination clauses. They don't do the same work, and only one of them might be what you want.
